Best Smartphone With 7s Gen 2 Processor : POCO X6 5G

The Snapdragon 7 Series Gen 2 SoC is a mid-range chipset developed by Qualcomm. It's designed to offer a balance of performance and power efficiency for smartphones and other mobile devices. These chips typically feature integrated 5G connectivity, advanced AI capabilities, improved graphics performance, and enhanced camera processing compared to previous generations. They're often found in mid-range smartphones that offer solid performance without the premium price tag.

  • Poco X6 5G: Affordable, with key features from Pro version.
  • 5,100mAh battery, 6.67" display.
  • 1.5K AMOLED, 120Hz, 1800 nits.

The POCO X6 5G is one of the best phones you can buy around the Rs 20,000 mark right now in India. The handset offers solid performance, a brilliant display, and fast charging speeds. While it doesn’t carry the bells and whistles that come with the POCO X6 Pro, this is a worthy handset in its own right and ticks almost all the right boxes. While the low-light camera performance leaves you wanting for more, this phone is easy to recommend due to its performance prowess.

Like last year, there is a regular and Pro model on offer in 2024. The Poco X6 5G is the cheaper of the pair, and comes with a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, a bold and bright display and 67W fast charging. However, the mid-range phone space is a crowded market, so competition is fierce.

Design & Display

The Poco X6 boasts a visually appealing design with a premium vibe, especially in the glossy black variant. However, the plastic back is very prone to fingerprints.

I mean it was a proper challenge to shoot this phone without any visible smudges. So yea, do use it with a case if that bothers you. Now, despite being plastic, the build quality impresses, and the phone feels light at 181g, considering its large 6.67-inch display.

One thing to note is the larger-than-usual camera module, which has become a common trait on Poco phones. It may turn heads but it also wobbles quite a bit on a table.

In terms of utility, there's a Type-C charging port, 3.5mm jack, an IR blaster, and a decent-sounding pair of Dolby Atmos tuned speakers. There’s also an IP 54 rating for dust and water resistance, so it should be able to handle the odd splashes of rain.

Diving into the Poco X6, I stumbled upon a budget-friendly gem that truly shines in the display department.

It comes with an expansive 6.67-inch 1.5K Flow AMOLED panel with a buttery-smooth 120Hz refresh rate and a dazzling peak brightness of 1800 nits.

You'd be hard-pressed to find a display with these impressive specs in the affordable segment. It’s not just fast and responsive; it’s a visual delight with vibrant, accurate colours. Plus, Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus adds a layer of protection rarely seen at this price point.

Cameras

The POCO X6 5G comes with a 64MP primary camera with f/1.79 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide camera with f/2.2 aperture, and a 2MP macro camera with f/2.4 aperture. The phone also features a 16MP front camera with f/2.45 aperture. While the brand claims that the comprehensive refactor camera architecture and integrated hardware and software create a new POCO image engine for amazing camera performance, I found the camera on this phone to be quite inconsistent.

On certain occasions when the lighting was ideal, it managed to capture details really well and produced some great images. However, in the absence of ideal lighting, the images lacked detail and even colour reproduction suffered to a certain extent. In low-light conditions and at night, this issue presented itself again and the images turned out quite grainy for me. Have a look at the camera samples I clicked with the phone and you'll get a better idea.

The selfie camera on the phone managed to capture facial details and skin tone really well. One of the areas where the cameras on the phone performed well was edge detection in portrait shots.

As far as video recording is concerned, the rear camera on the POCO X6 5G is capable of recording videos in 4K resolution (3,840 × 2,160 pixels) at 30fps, 1080p (1,920 × 1,080 pixels) at 30fps/60fps, and 720p (1,280 ×720 pixels) at 30fps. The front camera can record 1080p videos at 60fps/30fps and 720p videos at 30fps. The video quality, even in 4K resolution, is decent but not something to write home about. However, with the combination of OIS and EIS, the handset did produce noticeably stable videos even when I was recording with just my hand and no stabilising equipment.

Performance and Battery

After putting this smartphone through the paces with its Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, 12GB RAM, and hefty 512GB storage, I've gotta say, it impressed me. I decided to go all out and played Call of Duty for an hour, maxing out the graphics.

Unsurprisingly, the Poco X6 handled it like a champ - smooth gameplay, no lags, and it stayed cool throughout. Geekbench scores were solid, too—1021 on Single Core and 2976 on Multi-core.

What caught my attention was the CPU's performance under pressure, maintaining 85% capacity without breaking a sweat. So, whether you're into intense gaming or just need a reliable daily driver, this phone's got the power and speed.

Benchmark Results

Talking about speed, I found the face unlock to be exceptionally fast and effective, even in poorly lit conditions. The in-display fingerprint sensor further complements the phone's security features with its rapid responsiveness.

As for battery life, the 5,100mAh unit coupled with its 67W charger, has proven to be a reliable workhorse. Charging it is incredibly fast; it jumps from 10% to a full 100% in just about 40 minutes.

What's more impressive is how long the battery lasts. It easily powers through more than a day's use without needing a recharge.

Whether I'm streaming videos, scrolling through social media, or making calls, I can count on this phone to keep ticking along nicely.
